Crosshairs Overall

  • Bigger it is, easier is to measure distances between the crosshair and the target.
  • But also, bigger it is, more it covers of your screen making it harder to see, you are losing the visibility. It all will matter on the playstyle you’re playing too.
  • Long lines are there to help you with spatial reasoning, therefore in theory it should make you better in flicks.
  • Holes inside of the crosshairs can in theory help with landing shots
  • Usually more pro you are, the smaller the crosshair. Also, better eyes you’re having, the smaller it is.

Types of Crosshairs

Note: All the crosshairs are zoomed

Standard Crosshairs

  • High visibility with large obvious lines. Sometimes you can add sizeable gap to it. Sometimes you can add dot in between
  • Best for tracking: When using this standard crosshair, it’s easier to line your shots on both vertical or horizontal line

Modified crosshair

  • Usually having dot in the middle, or missing some lines, mainly the lines on top
  • Looking like a letter T
  • Or looking like two lines with a dot in the middle
  • It’s a transition between standard cross-hairs and dots

Dot

  • Inspired by Red dot Sight aiming reticle used in real life
  • Can be hard to spot at intense situations, which can be problematic when flicking
  • It’s extremely important to set the correct color for such

Circle

  • If it’s too big, you will lose the idea where the center actually is, therefore losing your ability to land hits
  • So usually people tend to make circle smaller over time, ending up with the dot itself
  • There’s a modification, usually called sunspot, that connects dot and circle together

Arrow

  • Also called Carrot, Chevron, or partial triangle
  • Something in between dot and standard crosshair
  • Problem is that it doesn’t help you with lining the shots on vertical or horizontal line
  • Advantage is that it usually takes less space on the screen

Full triangle

  • Not used very often
  • Mainly because it takes too much from the screen
  • Can help people who are having problem locating the crosshair, when the other types seem barely visible

No cross-hair

  • There are some people who don’t use cross-hair at all
  • Either they are very good, natural talent players who just know where it lays on the screen
  • Or they use some additional software that adds cross-hairs to the game
  • Lately some gaming monitors started adding cross-hairs into the games as well

Other types of cross-hairs

  • Flare = basically three dots aligned on y-axis, where one is bigger than others
  • Golden Bell = no idea who would use this one, terrible one, it looks like circle with some additional elements to it
  • Squares = either hollow or solid squares, it’s not very used although Krunker has it as an option in custom cross-hair settings
